Their idyllic lives are turned upside down when their daughter accuses her ex-boyfriend, Jason, (Jamie Johnston) of raping her. Spring 2007
» Hey everyone! Jamie just got back from an awesome trip to beautiful and sunny California. One reason for the visit was to attend the Young Artist Awards in L.A. As most of you know, Jamie has been nominated four times for the award and won in 2004. Although he didn't take home the trophy this year, it really is always an honour to be nominated.
» While in L.A., Jamie got together with several actor friends - Amber Marshall, Miriam MacDonald, Nathan Stephenson, Haley and Hannah Lochner and others.
» Since we don't have a lot of updates, we'll treat you to some more photos. Enjoy!
January 2007
» Great news! Jamie has been nominated for a Young Artist Award as "Best Young Lead Actor in a T.V. Series for Degrassi: The Next Generation". Ceremonies are in March in Los Angeles. Jamie has been nominated for 4 years in a row and won the award in 2004. Pretty cool accomplishment - congratulations Jamie!!
» It's typically quiet in television and movie production in Canada the first few months every year, but making things even worse this year is the actors strike. Latest news is that talks are not going well and producers are taking Actra, the actors' union to court. Some other not-so-great news for Degrassi is that Shaw Communications, who have provided funding to Degrassi and other Canadian productions for years, have pulled their financing. Hopefully everything will be sorted out so that Degrassi can start filming season 7 in the Spring!

» For your reading pleasure, below are answers to some of the most commonly asked email and guestbook questions. Is yours here?
- When does Degrassi start filming and when does it end & do you film in a studio all the time? Is Degrassi a real school? Where was the street racing filmed? THIS YEAR WE STARTED IN APRIL AND WRAPPED IN DECEMBER. WE DO ALMOST ALL OF THE FILMING AT THE STUDIO, BUT SOMETIMES WE DO GO ON LOCATION, LIKE THE THE STREET RACING SCENES WERE FILMED ON KINGSTON ROAD IN TORONTO’S EAST END. THE SCHOOL, THE MALL, THE DOT, THE HOUSES ARE ALL ON THE BACK LOT.
- How did you know that you wanted to act? Who helped you to pursue it? What was your big break? I DIDN’T PLAN TO GET INTO ACTING. IT REALLY IS LUCK AND TIMING. MY FAMILY AND MY AGENT HELPED ME AND I GUESS MY BIG BREAK WAS GETTING MY FIRST SERIES, ZIXX: LEVEL ONE.
- Why can’t you answer me in the guestbook? I’M TOLD IT ISN’T POSSIBLE WITH THE HOSTING THAT IS USED FOR THE SITE.
- Is your real name James, or is it Jamie & if it is James, does anyone actually call you that because you sign everything jamie & such? MY BIRTH NAME IS JAMES, BUT EVERYONE CALLS ME JAMIE.

- Do you go on any fan sites or anywhere else to see what anyone is saying about you? NO.
- Is it hard to be in a show and go to school at the same time, and if so, how? MISSING A LOT OF SCHOOL, EVEN THOUGH I GET TUTORED ON SET ISN’T IDEAL. I REMEMBER I WAS STUDYING FOR EXAMS WHEN “TRUE COLOURS” WAS FILMING – NOT FUN.
- I read somewhere that you can’t watch yourself on TV. Is that true? VERY TRUE.
- I loved you in Wild Card. Why did that series end? Was it filmed in Canada? THANKS! WILD CARD DIDN’T GET RENEWED AFTER TWO SEASON BY THE LIFETIME NETWORK. IT WAS AN AMERICAN SERIES FILMED IN TORONTO.
- Do you have a girlfriend? I PREFER NOT TO TALK TOO MUCH ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE. HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND.
- I think you will never read personally this message, I just wanted to tell you that I'm French so even from the other side of the world I like your work !!) I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT MY REPLIES HAVE TO BE BRIEF. THE WEBMASTER SCREENS THE GUEST BOOK AND EMAILS BEFORE I GET THEM.
- Do you sign your head shots yourself? Do you mail them yourself too? YES I SIGN THEM, AND NO I DON’T MAIL THEM OUT. MY AGENT FORWARDS FANMAIL TO MY MANAGER à MANAGER SCREENS AND FORWARDS TO ME à I READ LETTERS AND SIGN PHOTOGRAPHS à MANAGER MAILS THEM OUT TO YOU.
- I went on an audition and the whole cast and crew said i was PERFECT for the job except i looked too old....has this ever happened to you? BE CONFIDENT YOU DID THE BEST AUDITION YOU COULD THAT DAY, THEN GO HOME AND FORGET ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT’S OUT OF YOUR CONTROL.
- Will there be a season 7 of Degrassi? WE DON’T KNOW UNTIL THE OFFICIAL WORD COMES FROM THE NETWORK.
- How long have you played guitar? I’VE PLAYED SINCE I WAS ABOUT EIGHT OR NINE, WHEN I GOT A GUITAR FOR CHRISTMAS.
- Do you know Charlotte Arnold (Sadie) and Jacob Kraemer (Ben) from Naturally Sadie? YES, CHARLOTTE WAS IN 2 EPISODES OF MY SERIES ZIXX. SHE PLAYED THE GIRLFRIEND OF MY FRIEND GRIFF (PLAYED BY ALEX HOOD, WHO ALSO PLAYED RON YUMA ON SADIE!) I MET JACOB AT THE YOUNG ARTIST AWARDS IN L.A. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THROUGH A MUTUAL FRIEND, AMBER MARSHALL. A GROUP OF US HUNG OUT TOGETHER FOR ABOUT A WEEK IN L.A. AND STILL KEEP IN TOUCH.
- Is this your junior or senior year of high school then? Do you like school, or are you excited to graduate and move on? I’M IN GRADE 12, WHICH IN CANADA IS THE LAST YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. I’M NOT SURE WHAT I’M GOING TO DO NEXT YEAR YET.
- Are you going to be in any more movies? I HOPE TO.
- Who do you hang out with on the show? Do you all get along? WE REALLY DO ALL GET ALONG. WHOEVER IS AROUND AT THE END OF SHOOTING, WE’LL GO OUT FOR A COFFEE OR JUST HANG AROUND SET. YESTERDAY I WENT SNOWBOARDING WITH MARC WHO PLAYS DEREK.
- I want ur autograph hehehe GO TO “CONTACTS” ON THE WEBSITE TO SEE HOW.
- Were you in any movies? I WAS IN THE MOVIE ABSOLON, AND 2 MOVIES OF THE WEEK – MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE AND KILLER INSTINCT.

" . . . He is a very talented and professional young actor
and really made the character of Adam come alive, which contributed so
enormously to the success of the series. Particularly impressive in such a
young actor was his ability to shoulder the responsibility of having his
character essentially drive the entire series story. He coped superbly.
I have no doubt that Jamie has a terrific career ahead of

professional actor."

On Wednesday, December 1, Jamie attended a rally
to support the television and film industry because tens of thousands of jobs in
Ontario are being lost due to non-competitive production tax credits. Not only
actors, directors, writers, camera people, grips, electrical, carpenters,
transport, sound, prop and post production houses and all the people who work in
film and television are affected, it's support businesses such as caterers, the
hotel industry, restaurants, taxis, talent agencies, casting houses, and many
more that are suffering - many of which have had to close their businesses
because the work is not there. If you would like to help stop the decline of
productions and create jobs for Ontarians, you can go to www.keepontariorolling.com/, go to

Jamie donated his time to record a
voiceover for a Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life television commercial.
Luminary Ceremonies take place across Canada to honour cancer survivors and loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer.
After being lit in a moving ceremony at
dusk, luminaries provide light and inspiration for participants as they walk
around the track. http://www.cancer.ca.
Jamie will be volunteering at a Luminary Ceremony in June
2005.
